• Neptune transits and sensitivity - the things you need to remember

For everyone valuing comfort and life stability, Neptune transits are a pure nightmare. For some reason it is hard to get things done every day. Time slipping away is a theme that becomes a part of our daily routine instead of appearing occasionally. Slowly we start evaporating and flying away ... but all of these are trifles...

Transits of Neptune are always about big-time changes. A certain aspect of our life starts to dissolve and we end up being suspended, not knowing what to do next. Sometimes everything can seem fine "from the outside", like there's nothing significant going on in our lives, but there are major changes in our internal life and we cannot be indifferent to them.

We feel what we feel. We react like we react. We've become Neptunian - our sensitivity starts to grow rapidly. Our minds are filled with visions and dreams but how can this emotional chaos serve us?

The time has come for the third and final article of the Neptune series. This time it will be about the different shades of sensitivity and also what's the meaning of dreams and illusions.

    Enjoy the reading :-)

    Being a Neptunian

Short reminder of how I define sensitivity:

The placement of Neptune in our chart (by house, aspects with other planets, points) shows where borders between the physical, emotional and mental levels have specific properties - they are exceptionally permeable, thus making it easier to recognize and use a plethora of various stimuli.

Thanks to this permeability, Neptune is associated with sensitivity (intuition) - ability to catch various stimuli (i.e emotions, energy vibrations) not associated with the sensual perception. But Neptune is only a bridge between all these levels - everyone can form a contact with his/her Higher Self, regardless of Neptune's placement.

Neptune symbolizes openness, the capability to feel more and in a broader way than our senses can offer. Neptune transit marks a moment of an inner shift - our heightened sensitivity for stimuli becomes a major part of ourselves and our daily routine. With these transits, we're becoming a "matured human being" - someone capable of making his/her life calling a reality.

Maturity process takes time though - a lot of time. Typically Neptune transits last a couple of years although they can last a lot more depending on how the natal planets in the chart are placed.

No matter the duration, Neptune transit ALWAYS symbolizes a dissolution of a certain part of our personality, so that it can take a new form later on. Neptune is a whirlwind of change, twisting and swirling around our world although we cannot say it, as we're part of the whirl . And because of that, it is so hard to see how all these emotions can serve us in the bigger picture.
How a heightened sensitivity can influence our well-being and life goals?

    Neptune transiting the natal Sun

It is a new way of looking at our life force and its role in life.

When the sensitivity is just starting to affect the level of our life force, we're having a feeling of chaos - we cannot find ourselves on a very deep level of existence. This feeling of being lost is a result of reacting to stimuli which we previously ignored or plainly didn't notice.

"Openness" in itself is not that bad, but when one hasn't fully shaped his/her personality, found purpose or a certain integrity of character, every additional stimuli overwhelms "the whole system", as the Sun is our core and center of ... all.

When being sensitive, we are having a tendency to over- or underestimate ourselves, our creativity and talents.

The intuitive insight, sensitivity and intensity of reactions can make us realize how much we're lacking to be perfect (underestimation). No wonder, as what's our unlimited potential compared to how realistically we're functioning on a daily basic? Neptune allows us to feel this potential, i.e. thanks to imagination by creating wonderful scenarios with us playing the main role.

Another possibility is a sensitivity that uplifts and ascertains us so we can become who we'd like to become and live like we'd like to. Holding tightly to such ideal without building some foundations beforehand (like a personality spine, practical abilities) creates a situation in which we're overestimating ourselves. We can have a perfect aesthetic sense, great mind or ambitions, but without a sufficient technique and skills, we cannot make our dreams a reality.

During this transit people often feel tired even when they weren't (objectively speaking) particularly active physically or mentally. In such cases it is worth to remember that the use of imagination and visualizations are nothing more than living in our inner reality - and this has its cost in the energy resource level

With life energy problems (its lack) it is very important to invest time to make the dreams realistic, on the physical plane instead of other states of existence.

    Neptune transiting the natal Moon

It is a new way of looking at our sensitivity and its role in life.

The way we feel and intensively live emotions out is associated with our sense of security and the level of self-comfort (that is how comfortable we feel with ourselves). Both Moon and Neptune are strongly tied to emotions, making the sensitivity become a focal point during this transit. If we're not used to being in contact with our inner, accepting and acknowledging emotions (i.e. discouragement, fatigue), our feelings will gather in a staggering manor.

The Moon symbolizes subconsciousness (in contrast to the Sun being consciousness), this fact alone makes the Moon-Neptune duo influence the way we handle challenging situations in life - instead of confronting our feelings, we're more eager to pick easier routes like pushing emotions away from the awareness and letting the hidden urges and instincts lead our behaviour. Emotional hygiene becomes a necessity (I've written about it extensively in the previous parts) especially when experiencing dissatisfaction  and deep unfulfillment that is too overwhelming to manage.

In the midst of all this emotional turmoil, one of the greatest desires awakening in a person is the will to belong. And once one finds this ideal place/people that you fit him/her, one's ready to give all the attention and affection to them, as the Moon needs to show (and receive) care for those close ones. Just remember, when searching for this ideal, not to limit oneself only to what the senses say - to fully identify with a certain environment/people, during the Neptune transit, it will take a strong connection based on who we are in the present, rather than what bonded us (with certain people, places) in the past.

Very often the Neptune transit makes the past come back to our lives, for example old friends that make us think about who we were and where we have come from.

The Moon also tells of what feels natural to us, and in this particular transit the thing that suddenly becomes natural (and a necessity) is the need to feel deeper. Unfortunately the daily life and its responsibilities don't support deep introspection and withdrawal, but some sort of an escape is a must in order to survive the emotional wave and moodiness.

    Neptune transiting the natal Mercury

It is a new way of looking at how our intuition complements the rational mind (seeing that it is possible to combine intuition and the mind).

In case of this transit, being sensitive means discovering the meaning and impact of words. This period can be a very creative time, as we're feeling inspired in speech and words. Our words could be the transmitters of hope, joy or sadness - words become the gate to the emotional world, helping us understand feelings more. What also changes is the importance of the sound alone - the one we hear and the one we speak - the sound starts to become a way to express oneself.

Sensitivity combined with Mercury is also an inspiration - just knowing when and what to say, write.

During this transit various stimuli, especially emotions, strongly influence the thought process. For everyone valuing objectivity, subjective feelings can make reliable communication difficult to achieve. Emotions and the intellect typically don't get along, thus this transit is experienced as making one misunderstood, just because it's troublesome to explain one's thoughts clearly.

Mercury is also about the way one receives the information from the environment. Being sensitive means our nervous system soaks up not only the words but also the tone (like emotions) behind them and many other subtle signals (like the richness of images). Awareness of this process allows the better understanding of other person, but the more we rely on the brain alone, the more overwhelmed our mind can become.

    Neptune transiting the natal Venus

It is a new way of looking at intimacy and relationships with others and Self.

As this transit goes on, to feel intimacy one would need more than just words, presents or plainly spending time together - now, more than ever, what counts is soul union, the possibility to live out emotions together with each side perfectly understanding the other.

Sharing feelings, Venusian way, is based on balance - the emotional exchange between people needs to be equal in a sense that this exchange meets the needs of both sides. With Neptune transit, the previously established balance shakes to the favor of either of the sides - this takes place because the of the heightened sensitivity that awakens the need to feel and experience love in a deeper and bigger way.

On one side, the change of balance could lead into complete devotion towards the other, not wanting much in return. "The reward" could simply be the appreciation from the other that is felt intensively due to the sensitivity. On the other side, one has the desire to receive much attention and spend more time with the other.

Regardless of the stance we take, our heightened sensitivity is connected with idealizing relationships - longing for relations to be more meaningful, magical and spiritually satisfying. This could become a critical, life-changing experience, as we're searching for the best traits in people and we might just find them. In other cases, our efforts and sacrifice will be in vain.

    Neptune transiting the natal Mars.

It is a new way of looking at the methods we use to achieve goals.

To achieve anything, one needs motivation - the energy that drives us. During this transit, the easiest way to access this motivation is to act accordingly to spiritual yearnings. Such spirituality can even become a necessity in order to initiate any task in the first place, as the old goals become boring and don't inspire like they used to.

Neptune is about subtle changes in motivation that are hard to notice. These shifts often become a source of major problems when one cannot find any spiritual inspiration and the only thing one sees is the "old and  boring". This particular Neptune transit is a moment of losing the direction or even worse physical well-being and lowering the level of energy resources as one "doesn't want to do anything in particular".

It is worth to remember that Neptune doesn't cut us off from energy. Fatigue, and feelings of weakness are the result of opening to new motivational factors and shifting to bring new ways of taking initiative into our life. Our worse well-being can be a call from our body (and spirit) to find spiritual motivation, already present but hidden inside.

Mars energy is strongly associated with movement and for that reason heightened sensitivity can cause trouble with concentration on certain goals. At some point we're noticing more and more things that inspire us to do something and we happily move with the flow ... but then comes yet another interesting thing and we're starting to drift in a different direction, not finishing what we're started. Indecisiveness in action has its source in our intense reactions.

    Neptune transiting the natal Jupiter

It is a new way of looking at our role in the society and the way we'd like to support it.

There's something of an unlimited potential in this planetary combination - Neptune stretches even further the traits in us that are already directed towards unlimited growth and self-improvement (Jupiter). In this particular period, our eyes start are beginning to open and we're starting to see how our actions on the small community level have an impact on the big, even world-wide community. This discovery only gives our plans more momentum and most importantly, we're starting to feel this inner faith, knowing what we do is needed - for the greater good.

The benefits and luck during this period will come when we want to take care of others and we give our attention to those in need. In a nutshell - nobility and kindness in pure form is rewarded with feelings one is a part of something major. Existence is starting to make sense.

One has to be careful not to become too gullible. Sensitivity means feeling the need to give more and broadening one's horizons but it doesn't guarantee we'll end up in the right environment for it. There are too many egocentrics, caring only for their own needs and desires, giving nothing back to the community and waiting to drain energy from the trusting idealist.

Intensive positive sensations can lift us up, but sensitivity is a double-edged sword - a possible fall can be very painful.

    Neptune transiting the natal Saturn

It is a new way of looking at the role of challenges and obstacles in our life.

Saturn symbolizes structure and blockages. Its placement in the horoscope shows where we're constricted the most and where we want to attain freedom by getting rid of the binding chains - Neptune offers the chance to do so.

Neptune transit is about openness for the sensitivity that's beyond any possible limitations. Step by step, we're starting to feel how much we really want (and need!) to express ourselves on the fields that are a source of fears. We still need to be consequent in our actions, work hard to become free from the limitations, but with the stronger sensitivity we can get a glimpse of who we could become and what we could achieve.

Feel how it's like to stand tall and not fear.

During this period we face a dilemma: are we acting according the society's rules and the direction the society points or are we living according to the yearnings of our souls. Our sensitivity starts to point us our mistakes and falsehood of our authorities. As we long for something deeper and true in life, we become more and more disappointed of the world and everything that seemed to be reliable and rock-solid. People (authorities) may not be as wise and spiritual as we've fought - it can be a very liberating experience.

Neptune transiting the natal Uranus, Neptune and Pluto is a separate matter that doesn't fit what I'd like to show with this article.

These three planets belong to the group called "universal planets", which (along with many other meanings) describe how we (as individual beings) shift our awareness from the personal field to the collective way of thinking. The position of these planets in the horoscope tells about the ways we can transform in order to experience broader matters like transcendence.

Does that mean Neptune transits to the universal planets are not worth analysing? No! They tell a great story and have the potential to impact our daily life just as much as the transit to other planets. It's just that the nature of Uranus, Neptune and Pluto energy is closely tied to the individual and his/her unique life challenges so without going into the individual's chart, the analysis of Neptune's transits to universal planets seems shallow.

Two things to remember during the Neptune transit

Neptune offers a vision being a dream.

And way more than just dreams. Neptune is about dreams we live for! It is like the offer of creating a safe harbour and experiencing it among the tensions and changes around us.

To have dreams means using imagination - it inspires to create a space around you that you feel comfortable with, knowing it is your place on earth.

Neptune is about adventures, people and space that give lessons about the world around us, although Neptunian visions are mostly lessons about ourselves. Imagination helps find ourselves in this crazy world and that makes us stronger. Neptune also marks a new chapter in our life. It can be the beginning of a magical journey, taking you to the unknown, foreign places and meeting many new people - all of it will shape the direction of your life.

Neptune offers a vision being an illusion

Neptune transits also have a dark side - it's a time of immobilization and suspension, leaving us uncertain of the future and wanting to escape to a better place. And at some point come the feelings of deep dissatisfaction that just don't want to disappear even after a few rounds of a good liquor.

Illusions are like reflection of dreams. Imagine a string of an instrument - we can stretch it however we want to catch a different (better) sound, thus giving us a wider range of possibilities (to interact with the world). But the string has its durability and in a certain critical moment will just break. Illusions are dreams that got stretched too much.

So when we're struggling with the issue of illusions, it helps to ask oneself questions like:

    - Are my illusions a result of too high aspirations? Do I want to be someone I am not?
    - Have I experienced illusions because I haven't taken into the account my abilities for this particular moment in life?

Neptune - worth to get through

So what's this Neptune all about?

It is about dreaming. And what we dream about is not some sort of fantasy, created out of nowhere in the back of our heads. Dreams show us the better version of ourselves - the perfect Us that is inhibited neither by beliefs, people nor material world.

These dreams ... they may be too bubbly and high-placed but how can such visions capture our attention without the air mystery around them? If that was not the case, we'd leave them behind in an instant.

And what about illusions you may ask? About the things that "don't exist"? The gift of Neptune is showing us where our heart is, what we truly want from the bottom of our hearts. It could be a lie, but it would lead us towards that part within that is striving towards Light. And that is very real.

So perhaps Neptune is not about illusions ... but the truth.

“Dare to dream! If you did not have the capability to make your wildest wishes come true, your mind would not have the capacity to conjure such ideas in the first place." - Anthon St Maarten
