Pluto entered Capricorn for good at the end of 2019 and since then we witnessed many spectacular world-wide and local events; events that changed our approach to Capricorn-related matters. Meanwhile on December 2017 another heavy weight player entered the ring - Saturn.
Saturn's 2,5-year visit in Capricorn (alongside Pluto) is the source of both incredibly dramatic moments and spectacular successes. It is also the moment of closure - among painful but very much needed experiences regarding our daily and vocational life of the last decade, the spotlight is put on how we understand the Capricorn's essence and its teachings for us.
Scandals are exposed directly before our eyes. These events tear us out from minding our own businesses with the purpose of showing us the depth and importance of life's social side.
Enjoy the reading :-)
Social matters
Pluto belongs to the group of transpersonal planets that symbolize the processes in which we (as individual beings) can shift our consciousness from the personal level to the one related to the collective - humankind. Its position shows the most natural ways for us to transform in order to experience the transcendental dimension in daily life.
Now Saturn belongs to the group of social planets that describe how we function in the society but within the realization of Self - according to our history, skills and believes. One can say that from Saturn's lessons (e.g. discovering and building the foundation of one's own personality) there is only one step towards deeply satisfying commitment to social matters. This commitment being capable of providing us the sense of meaning.
When these two planets come in contact (just like it happens with their mutual presence in Capricorn, particularly at the time of their conjunction), social matters and the social development direction becomes important - they move our hears... and nerves. Reason: we strongly feel what someone out there does greatly influences the personal direction and quality of our own life and lives of people around. This becomes particularly obvious when Saturn and Pluto create an aspect (transit) to our natal chart.
The Saturn-Pluto combination reveals whether and to what extend we are internally integrated to engage in social matters without losing the sense of individuality, moral spine etc.
Capricorn's symbolism repertoire includes terms such as: slowing down, limitations, doubt, consequences, repetitive patterns etc. Capricorn strives to structure everything it touches, that's why the legislation and institutions being the state/country have become extremely sensitive areas of our lives in the last decade. That's where we direct our suspicious gaze at.
Sooner or later when reading about Pluto, you will come across considerations about death. When we consider death in the context of Pluto in Capricorn (or any Earth element signs), we focus primarily on its practical dimension and role in our lives. And how it is (not) socially regulated. We tackle legislation regulating e.g. slaughter and all its types (including the ritual ones), abortion and euthanasia. More about the last one of the three.
Emphasis on Capricorn in any astrological chart points towards the importance of responsibility. Taking or discarding it.
Pluto is all kinds of fears and its stay in Capricorn evokes the fear of losing dignity and self-reliance. Fear of pain can also be included, but only because fear of pain means fear of experiencing a lack of e.g. sleep, sex, inability to enjoy conversation with a loved one (transit to Mercury) or spending time with him/her. It hurts. One can add to this the fear of being excluded from a social group and the fear of dying alone.
There's also the fear of dying in vile conditions - among vomits and howls. Capricorn often lives in installments and with Pluto there is the prospect of dying in installments.
And when Pluto in Capricorn comes into contact with planets in Cancer (in the sky or in our chart), we confront the difficult to accept necessity of entering into dependencies. Capricorn likes to have the sense of being in control and now it has to suddenly depend on someone. The first thing it feels is how life strips off Capricorn's dignity and humiliates it.
In mid 2019 news spread that the state of Victoria in Australia (as the only state) has passed a law legalizing euthanasia and assisted suicide.
In mid 2019 news spread that the state of Victoria in Australia (as the only state) has passed a law legalizing euthanasia and assisted suicide.
Naturally everything takes place under strict conditions. For example euthanasia is only possible for terminally ill adult patients that doctors give less than 6 months or one year in the case of multiple sclerosis etc. In addition, there are a number of formal requirements e.g. the necessity of having the opinion of multiple doctors at once. Capricorn mindset is: better safe than sorry; it does what it can to secure its future or avoid unpleasant situations. In Capricorn's opinion death regulation cannot be easy and widely available. Protecting oneself against hits from all possible sides is something that Capricorn likes best. And pays the price for it i.e. developing complexes.
Among the zodiac signs, Capricorn can be classified as the conservative one, sticking to what it knows best. In this context the legalization of euthanasia appears to be quite a progressive approach, in contrast to the conservative views often expressed by right-wing parties or religious institutions.
The Australian euthanasia chart strongly emphasizes Jupiter (the ruler of the Ascendant, on the 10th house cusp) and Sagittarius, both commonly associated with religion, faith or "generally seeing a wider context of existence". Such a Capricorn-Sagittarius mixture shows the clash of two worlds: the mundane and the divine one; practical versus an ideal-based viewpoint.
With the euthanasia bill going into life, people really realize the wider context and meaning (Jupiter) of life i.e. it has value when it is lived in a judicious way and not becomes a vegetation. The Ascendant in Pisces with nearby Neptune further confirms this conclusion. One of the leading politicians of the state of Victoria talks about sticking to a more compassionate approach that would give terminally ill patients a worthy option i.e. "a good death".
The Moon in Capricorn is about emotional coldness/detachment - people's spontaneous reaction is closing themselves in their views and not leaving one's comfort zones to even get a glance at the reasoning behind the emotional state of the opposite side. It is rare for people to use planets in fall/detriment for self-work, which makes the multitude of arising issues demotivating. And so ultimately the initiative doesn't work out.
The presence of Capricorn is a symbol of "tackling difficult emotionally and intimate issues"; things people don't discuss openly.
The Moon's presence near Saturn and Pluto suggests that for many the endeavor (the practical functioning of the bill) will be a source of fears of e.g. taking a non-religious approach, legal responsibility or fear about being accused of murder - the possibility that judgment (Capricorn) will turn against those with responsibility aka doctors. In a nutshell: such Moon placement indicates the sense of inner peace is threatened by circumstances.
Considering the Capricorn planet cluster, Mercury and Mars in Cancer add even more oil to the fire that are the raging emotions around euthanasia. Cancer is "thinking about the family" and suddenly (with all the buzz around euthanasia) some people may discover the existence of something like indigenous, traditional beliefs of their region (state of Victoria).
Of course Mars' presence cannot be without quarrels and anger, as well as a sense of powerlessness, especially in financial terms (Mars, ruler of the 2nd house, opposite Saturn).
Ultimately it is great to see the Cancer accent in the chart, because emotions have the potential to tone down and give a more human dimension to such a dry and impersonal martinet like Capricorn and the legal institutions.
Everything happened on a more or less exact New Moon in Virgo. This indicates a completely new beginning in matters of health services in general. This is not an act that will go unnoticed. With such a strong New Moon we can assume the bill has the potential to open the doors to whole new possibilities in nursing and health care departments (Virgo).
Some of the planets involved in the New Moon are in opposition to Neptune, particularly Mercury. This is a sign of great emotions being present during the discussion on euthanasia. Much indicates that that both formal and spiritual issues, along with existential themes, were carefully taken into account. Such a partile opposition speaks of very distinctive differences in approaches and difficulties in reconciling the two worlds. To that we can add the Saturn square from Sagittarius i.e. an additional, set-to-limit pressure from groups of people looking at euthanasia from the religious viewpoint etc. It is not surprising that it would take 18 months for the bill to properly function.
Some New Moon planets are in the aspect with Pluto, thus the appearance of fear/responsibility issues is justified. The fact that the mentioned above aspect is a trine doesn't make things easy; the Capricorn-Virgo trine (Earth signs) suggests that legislation will clearly address euthanasia issues; people will easily and without much obstacles understand what they are standing on, although fear will still be present and formal restrictions will still be burdensome (square to Saturn).
The bill has been passed. The most interesting thing the chart is the Mercury-Saturn conjunction. It is a symbol of over 100-hour debates preceding this moment. The political opposition was really trying hard to block the debate process, which would block the possibility of the final voting. This plan failed, however.
It is then that the 18-month implementation period is announced, which was met with optimism but also disappointment as one had to wait while preparations were made. The Mercury-Saturn conjunction symbolizes e.g. formalities difficult to understand and met; it also symbolizes a great number of documents or opinions (Mercury) needed, which of itself would be very constricting and time-consuming to gather (Saturn).
From another point of view - the past of the elders (considered authorities) comes to light. Often times the dark past, which is perfectly demonstrated by recent public report regarding priests and pedophilia. One particular YouTube movie ("Don't Tell Anyone" by Sekielski brothers, with subtitles) in particular sprung a major nation-wide discussion here in Poland.
All of these are issues of Capricorn social groups symbolized by it.
Let us look at the technology boom of the recent decades. Elders and people with limitations are charmed by beautiful opportunities and possibilities to completely transform their lives. Artificial limbs? Sure. Operations that help you recover your eyesight even after it has been completely lost? Yup, it's there. Innovations in transplantation? We have it. These are no scientists' frills but tangible things, though difficult to access. And it is for the latter that Capricorn is a difficult position for Pluto to be in, because the much needed transformation is out of reach, usually due to Capricorn-related reasons (or characteristic for the element of the earth) e.g. money, formalities, lack of clear and effective structures, impossible-to-meet or stringent requirements, really long queue times etc.
Currently (2019) euthanasia is legal in few countries. Pluto's long-term manifestation in Capricorn motivates people to take responsibility and address the problem rather than adopt any particular option. One has to take the topic seriously.
We will look completely different at the countries that regulated euthanasia during the time of Pluto in Sagittarius than at the time of Pluto in Capricorn. With the former, national discussions were mainly stimulated by believes, the local dominant religion, the viewpoint of seeing life as something greater than vegetation. With the later: fear, real stories and hard experiences were the prime "speakers".
Capricorn stands firmly on the ground, which is why it often expresses
pragmatism. New opportunities for transformation and regeneration, however, make one wonder what is really worth: life at all costs (among debilitating therapies) or life among pain and limitations? Add to this a number of other doubts (Capricorn is skeptical of new things) - should death be approached by exploring the access to euthanasia or palliative care (focused on relieving symptoms)?
There will be people that benefit from Pluto in Capricorn and find the true source of the problems (and thus a well-functioning solution for years). There will also be people who do not try to solve anything, sticking to what is already established, not going their way to introduce change (to euthanasia or palliative care) as it would threaten the loss of reputation, career. These are the two different and extreme (Pluto) facets of Capricorn.

Capricorn and Pluto
We are going to learn about the importance and meaning of Pluto matters in a way symbolized by Capricorn. This zodiac sign also show us specific fields of life from which we can expect to directly learn the importance of the social side of life.Capricorn's symbolism repertoire includes terms such as: slowing down, limitations, doubt, consequences, repetitive patterns etc. Capricorn strives to structure everything it touches, that's why the legislation and institutions being the state/country have become extremely sensitive areas of our lives in the last decade. About death and dying - euthanasia
Pluto in Capricorn manifests through attempts to create laws concerning the right to decide about one's own death. This is about maintaining control - without it, Capricorn has troubles finding itself in the world. It is a different matter when a mortally sick person thinks about dying and when the state services do. This is about defining the duty, the quality of service of a doctor i.e. the responsible one.Emphasis on Capricorn in any astrological chart points towards the importance of responsibility. Taking or discarding it.

Regulating death during Pluto in Capricorn times

People's reactions
The Moon is in Capricorn, which is why matters related to public acceptance of the bill (people's reactions, Moon) will cause issues. It will take time, arduous/hard work to reach an agreement - if such an agreement is sought in the first place, which is questionable with such Moon placement. The Moon in Capricorn is about emotional coldness/detachment - people's spontaneous reaction is closing themselves in their views and not leaving one's comfort zones to even get a glance at the reasoning behind the emotional state of the opposite side. The chart puts great emphasis on the Cancer-Capricorn axis.Considering the Capricorn planet cluster, Mercury and Mars in Cancer add even more oil to the fire that are the raging emotions around euthanasia. The beginnings
The posted above chart shows the moments the legislation bill comes into life. Because of the uniqueness of the moment, I've decided that it was worth to look closer at it. We can acquire more information from the moment the bill was proposed and came into life (from the legislative point of view).

Pluto's position and adversity
Modern times are difficult for our elders and people of varying degrees of dependences and disabilities. They watch the world of today and fear for their future. Reason: overwhelming requirements from life, issues with one's material situation, difficulty in planning the future in a era that is about survival (Pluto and Capricorn). And all thanks to the state of modern institutions and the government system that have grown to be unable to ensure security. From another point of view - the past of the elders (considered authorities) comes to light. Modern era issue
Wikipedia1 shares information about countries that have in one way or another taken a stance towards euthanasia. Here are my estimates: during Pluto in Capricorn times, the number of countries that have regulated euthanasia (active/passive euthanasia, assisted suicide) is twice as large as the number of countries that have done the same during Pluto in Sagittarius time.Currently (2019) euthanasia is legal in few countries. Pluto's long-term manifestation in Capricorn motivates people to take responsibility and address the problem rather than adopt any particular option. One has to take the topic seriously.
